Surrounded by a mosaic of hedgerows, successional woodlands and forest, Rhoneymeade farm is 150 acres, certified organic (primarily hay), with a 6-acre arboretum at its center. We will take about 2 hours of gentle hiking. Be prepared for a bit of mud if it is wet, but nothing extreme. Rhoneymeade Arboretum and Sculpture Garden is 9 miles east of State College, midway between Linden Hall and Centre Hall. Follow Rt 45 E out of Boalsburg for 4.5 miles past the junction with 322, then turn left on Rimmey Rd. Climb the hill ~0.3 mi until the road forces a sharp left, and then just around the corner you'll see the parking area is on the left.

Sunday, November 13, 2022 8:00- 11:00 am
Winter Birds at Bald Eagle State Park

We will be checking various locations within the main park for winter birds such as sparrows, hawks and waterfowl.   Some of the land birds we would like to find would include Snow Buntings, American Pipit, perhaps a Northern Harrier and Northern Shrike.  The global climate is changing and warmer weather tends to linger longer at Bald Eagle SP, so it will be 'anything goes' for this year's outing.  We will meet at the Swimming Beach, then drive to various locations around the park. We will probably do some walking to the Skater's Pond and/or to the Hunter's Run Cove launch so sturdy boots are recommended.  Come prepared for the weather.   All are welcome.  Bring binoculars and a spotting scope if you have one. Photographers welcome.
