Sunday, September 20, 2020 (7:30-9am)

Walk at Russell E. Larson Research Center - Deibler Farm

Join Jon Kauffman for a leisurely 1.5-mile walk through the Deibler Farm within the Russell E. Larson Research Center. Now managed through Ag Progress, this 24-acre tract is in the early stages of becoming a multifunctional buffer demonstration site along Spruce Creek to engage the public. As this site is in the early stages of site planning, recording species richness of avian fauna can assist in understanding how land management choices can support bird populations.

Participants will be lead through the property via a well-mowed and wide path. Bring sturdy shoes, water, and face mask. Maintaining 6’ physical distance will be required. No facilities available.

Directions: From the intersection of Tadpole Road and Route 45, travel 2.4 miles west on Rt 45. Park at barn on the left along Rt 45. If you pass Deibler Road on the right, you went too far.

Saturday, October 17, 2020 (10:00 am - noon)

Big Day at Beaver Parking Deck
at the corner of Beaver and Fraser in State College

Join Joe Gyekis for birdwatching from the top level of Beaver Parking deck.  We will participate in Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Big Day.  We will wear face masks and maintain social distancing.  We will not be able to share scopes or other equipment.

The number of participants is limited, so please preregister by emailing Joe.
