2013 Fall Calendar for meetings and field trips

Further details of all 2013 field trips will be posted to the State College Bird Club listserv group.

Unless otherwise noted, all regular meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room in the Community Building in the Foxdale Village Retirement Community.

Details of local field trips will be announced on the scbirdcl e-mail list.

September 25, 2013 (Wednesday)
Regular Meeting
7:00 p.m. Foxdale Village Meeting Room
Program:  Our guest speaker will be Alex Lamoreaux who will give a program titled "Finding and Identifying the Sparrows of Central PA".
 
October 23, 2013 (Wednesday)
Regular Meeting
7:00 p.m. Foxdale Village Meeting Room
Program: Our guest speaker will be Peter Hudson who will give a program entitled “Chasing birds and Heroes.... around the globe".    
 
November 20, 2013 (Wednesday)
Regular Meeting
7:00 p.m. Foxdale Village Meeting Room
Program: Our guest speakers will be Mark and Ruth Henry who will give a program on their trip to Tanzania.
 
December 11, 2013 (Wednesday)
7:00 p.m. Foxdale Village Meeting Room
Program: Our guest speaker will be Katie Ombalski who will give a program on what is happening at the Clearwater Conservancy.

September 7, 2013 (Saturday)
Scotia Barrens in Centre County for fall warblers.
Meet: At 7:30 am at Scotia Pond; bird until about 10 am.
Leader: Joe Verica.

September 29, 2013 (Sunday)
Scotia Barrens in Centre County for fall warblers and other migrants.
Meet at the State College Lowes parking lot and leave as close to 7am as possible. Carpooling is essential. More info.
Leaders: Alex Lamoreaux and Ian Gardner.

October 19, 2013 (Saturday)
Colyer Lake to look for Nelson's Sparrow and other fall sparrows.
Meet at Colyer Lake in the lower (south) lot at 8:00 am, and bird for 2-3 hours.
Leader: Joe Verica

November 17, 2013 (Sunday)
BESP - Bald Eagle State Park in Centre County for migrating waterfowl, and hawks and Bald Eagles from 8am to at least noon.
Meet at the McDonalds on Rt 150 near Milesburg at 8am.
Leader: Bob Snyder

Other Birding Events

November 2, 2013 (Sunday) PSO field trip to Allegheny Front hawkwatch for migrating hawks and especially Golden Eagles during their peak time.
This field trip is free and open to the public, not just PSO members. Facebook page for more information.
