2007 Spring Calendar for meetings and field trips

Details of all 2007 field trips are currently tentative and will be revised in the next few weeks.

Unless otherwise noted, all regular meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the Schlow Centre Region Library.

Local field trips during Spring Migration will be announced on the scbirdcl e-mail list.

January 27, 2007 (Saturday)
** Field Trip: Visit Big Valley for field birds (Horned Larks etc), raptors, Red-headed Woodpeckers.
7:30 to early afternoon
Meet at the Omega Bank at the Westerly Parkway shopping center by 7:30 a.m. for carpooling. Watch e-mail list for more details.

January 24, 2007 (Wednesday)

Program: Our guest speaker will be Nick Bolgiano who will talk about "Breeding Birds of Rothrock and Sproul State Forests"

February 24, 2007 (Saturday)
** Event: Birding & Breakfast at Shaver's Creek Nature Center
7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Wake up with the birds and enjoy one of the busiest times of the day for our avian friends! Birding on the trails around the center, followed by a pancake breakfast with our local maple syrup, our home recipe for pancakes, and good coffee.
Fee: $6 non-members; $4 members; $3 kids 12 and under.

February 25, 2007 (Sunday)
** Field Trip: Open country birds in Centre County (The infamous annual "Manure Chase")
8:00 a.m. to around noon
Meet at the Omega Bank at the Westerly Parkway shopping center by 7:30 a.m.

Program: Our guest speaker will be Deuane Hoffman, who will talk about birding the Conejohela Flats in Lancaster County and the basics of shorebird identification.

** Event: Migration Morning Birdwalks with naturalist Doug Wentzel at Shaver's Creek Nature Center

April 22, 2007 (Sunday)
** Field Trip:
Migrating waterfowl and early spring arrivals in Bald Eagle State Park and Curtin Wetland
8:00 a.m. - noon
Bob Snyder will meet carpoolers in the parking lot near the Omega Bank off Westerly Parkway and depart Westerly Parkway at 7:30 to meet Bob Snyder at the Milesburg MacDonald's on Rt 150 at 8:00 am. First stop is Curtin Wetland, the next stop will be Upper Green's Run boat landing, and then the main park.
